Let's catch up

*FOR MARKETING CLASS* Hey everybody, So it's been a minute since I've checked in! I've been rolling along with the Grief in Cycles shows and the records have been doing well. I wanted to catch up and talk about a few things, mainly the latest happenings with my projects right now and then go over the larger plan for next year. Regarding the work behind Care Center, it's on hold right now. Nick and I are both busy with our respective main projects. Pray for Death is going into the studio this summer to record our debut album, and the solo stuff is still fresh, so there's nothing on that radar right now. Since we're at the halfway point of the year, I figured this would be a good time to talk about some plans for a larger-scale thing I want to make happen. I bring it up now because it's something that is going to be immense to pull together and make happen. Within the next year I plan to launch Chicago Record Swap, a bi-annual event hosted at the beginning an

RUBINE RELEASED: PRESS, ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS, AND MORE.

RUBINE IS LIVE, BABY! The album is streaming everywhere. I am greatly thankful for the press on the record, and the support it has gotten so far. The album peaked at NUMBER SEVEN on the Chicago Ambient charts via Bandcamp. The rest of the cassette run sold out within a few days of the album going live on the 8th and was totally gone by the 13th. That's insane to me, I am so humbled by the love for the record. Please keep bumping it! Share it with friends, stream it, tell people, tell your dogs, I dunno. The solo Bandcamp has done really well lately, it's gone from 20 something followers to over 50 in the span of a few weeks and this is the most any of my records has been downloaded. It's crazy to even begin process the success of it compared to prior records. As far as press goes, Rubine was featured on Chicago Soundcheck's Fresh Tracks, which you can check out here. Many thanks to Brian Shamie for the feature and support with both my own projects and Vanity Contest.

RUBINE OUT 4/8/2022

Hey people, My new record “Rubine” drops April 8th. The latest single "Mouth of Canyon" is currently available on Bandcamp for streaming. You can pre-save the album through your streaming service of choice, include your email if you want to be entered to win a FREE cassette copy of the album! Tapes are limited to 20 copies, with a wider CD release this summer. Thanks for the support. About “Rubine”: “An abstract collision, seemingly still from the outside. Rubine’s synth-driven textures slowly evolve through slick and careful orchestration. This is electronic minimalism at its very best-and whether it’s intention is as so, one cannot help but truly meditate upon the inner workings of the mind and soul when experiencing this record.” Bandcamp: https://bradymatteson.bandcamp.com/album/rubine Streaming Pre-Save: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/bradymatteson/rubine

Sleeper turns one

The Weeknd - Dawn FM (FIRST IMPRESSIONS)

Pictured: alternate cover art, taken from the physical editions of the album. “You are now listening to 103.5 Dawn FM. You’ve been in the dark for way too long. It’s time to walk into the light and accept your fate with open arms. Scared? Don’t worry. We’ll be there to hold your hand and guide you through this painless transition. But what’s the rush? Just relax and enjoy another hour of commercial ‘free yourself’ music on 103.5 Dawn FM. Tune in.” The Weeknd is one of the biggest artists on the planet right now, if not THE biggest artist out there. His previous album, 2020's After Hours , was a mammoth success that smashed record after record, charted endlessly, and sold thousands of copies. You've been living under a rock if you haven't heard  Blinding Lights or Save Your Tears over the past two years. Culminating in a glitzy, glamorous Super Bowl LV Half Time set, designed after the imagery and motifs of After Hours' Vegas settings. So how do you follow up THE bigg

Year in review, happenings, such and such

pictured: me, a week ago 2021 was an... eventful year. Certainly more eventful than 2020, but equally, if not more scarring. With wrapping up my sophomore year of college and entering my junior year, there were plenty of ups, downs, and opportunities. Didn't love it, didn't hate it though! Some sure-fire highlights were getting to interview Ilan Rubin , completing the Capstone Challenge with Braven, and managing to pull a lot of really cool things together behind the scenes I can't quite talk about, music-wise. Speaking of music, some amazing albums came out this year. My list of favorites is below. I wanted to thank you folks for being good to me, I'm thankful I've made as many new friends this year as I have. It's been a really tough one emotionally and to have good people to turn to is a privilege. I'm glad I managed to get back to my job and glad I'm able to do what I do. A big struggle has been keeping motivated in just... all aspects of my life. I
