About Me

Hello, I'm Brady! I make music, and take photos. I've been taking photos for seven years, and making/recording music for six years.

Consider this blog a hub for all the things I do. You can find older, soon-to-be-publicized solo music, links to all my social media, and posts about various things in my life. I'll probably start posting about stuff that felt weird to put on social media, like hobbies I'm getting into, looking through old artwork, and general updates about what I've been up to.

Thanks for taking a look! Below are all the projects and releases I've been credited on, plus links and little blurbs about them, excluding singles already included on releases.

2017:

Brady Matteson - Basement
     First-ever recordings, mostly acoustic.

Brady Matteson - Rebound: Initial
First foray into ambient/electronic work, with the entire second half consisting of drum tracks.

Brady Matteson - The Exorcism & The Veto
    Second dip into acoustic recordings.

Brady Matteson - Pins EP
This one is all over the map. I guess ambient AND acoustic? I'm not too crazy on this one.

2018:

Brady Matteson - Rebound,  Vol. 1-3
Now we're talking. These three volumes under the Rebound title were supposed to be snippets of soundtrack work for a class project that fell through.

Left In The Rain - Demons Don't Dance (Single)
My first contribution to rock project Left In The Rain. Performed drums and did backup vocals.

Brady Matteson - Metal Box EP
Ahhh, yet another trip down the ambient road using a REAL drone synth, an alarm clock, and a shitty Casio keyboard. Good times.

Left In The Rain - Fourty-Eight EP
Debut EP from Left In The Rain, contributed drums, a brief guitar solo, and guitar pedals.

Brady Matteson - Momentary
YET ANOTHER trip down the ambient road, dear lord. You can probably skip it.

THE FIRST VANITY CONTEST SINGLE. Contributed synths and production.

2019:

Some of my first public remixes. Remixed and re-tooled the tracks Head Down, Discipline, and 1,000,000. Particularly proud of that 1,000,000 mix, it's got a hell of a groove.

This one was actually done for a contest! Remixed a track by a friend of mine that goes by Oddentity. Neat little remix. I swear to god we're getting to the meatier contributions, I PROMISE.

Vanity Contest - Breaking Distance
OH YEAH. THE FIRST VANITY CONTEST RECORD. I HAVE SOME STORIES ABOUT THIS ONE. Self-produced this album. Recorded it, wrote songs for it, did the artwork for this, designed the packaging, packaged said packages. Fun times. I'll spill some nice nostalgia bits about this album soon, I promise! Also: the only release to feature guitarist/cool person Mayaan Skomsvold.

Vanity Contest - Hospice For The Lonely EP
The follow-up to Breaking Distance. Again, produced, recorded, and wrote it. Now with bandmate Elijah Diaz! I also have some cool stories about this one too. Side note: first release to get any notoriety on a blog called The Deli, for the single "Coil (The Doomsday Disco)." See also: the instrumental versions of these tracks. Still immensely proud of the quality of this EP for the time.

2020:

The first Vanity Contest single of 2020. Didn't feel right for an album, or an EP so it was standalone. Actually gained some decent traction on this one, according to our Spotify data! This track was also featured on The Deli. We were so naive as to what was around the corner for us.

This single always felt a bit overlooked. Released well into month three or four of lockdown. I don't remember exactly, time is a blur. Noisy. Loud. Good times. Produced, recorded, wrote. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Vanity Contest - Reviewer Beware
My first TRUE foray into soundtrack work. Production, recording, songwriting, packaging... I'm sensing a pattern here.

I contributed synths to a friend of mine's track. FOR ONCE I DIDN'T PRODUCE, WRITE OR PACKAGE THIS RELEASE!!!

These Lights Are Killing Me - The Difference Between You and Me Demos
Unfinished demos from a project that's been on the back burner. All in due time.

Brady Matteson - Thought Journal
First publicized bit of solo work. Do I need to say what I did here? I think you get the point.

2021:

Brady Matteson - Sleeper
My second solo album. The second side of the same coin of Thought Journal. More on that later. First release to be put on cassette tape!

First live EP. Debuted new material, a cut off of Thought Journal, as well as a medley of tracks from Sleeper.

Brady Matteson - Birdsong
Dropped for August's Bandcamp Friday. A mesh of field recordings from parks and soft synth textures. Real zen vibes. You could probably meditate to this one if you wanted.

Vanity Contest - Eyes Open
The return single! Slowly but surely coming back. Glitchy, groovy, killer track. more to come from this sound.

2022:

Brady Matteson - A Burning Decay
Condensed anxiety. Year Zero is here.

Made this a few years ago and only just recently put it out. Dark, doom 'n gloom synths and the visceral screams of YAAMC paired extremely well.

Brady Matteson - Rubine
Third solo record. Different vibes, fuzzier synths, longer passages. A comfort record, if you will.

Nick Feltes & Brady Matteson - in a daydream
FIRST COLLAB TRACK WITH NICK! LETSGOOOOO

Vanity Contest - Heart/Down
    2018-2022 RIP

Brady Matteson - Birdsong, Vol 2
The second installation of my Birdsong series.

Second annual solo live set. This was a great set. Audio is solid, too.

Sonic explorations of the Strega. This is what it feels like.

Further sonic explorations of the Strega. This is what it feels like.

Even further sonic explorations of the Strega. This is what it feels like.

Care Center - practice tape 9.22.22

Care Center - check.
The debut of Care Center. Drone tones and warbled guitars.

2023:

Brady Matteson - Every dream in your head

Brady Matteson - Sunken in the same place
